WINDOWS UNABLE TO FORMAT DRIVE: [SOLVED]

Today I am going to show you how you can repair a corrupted SD Card or Flash drive. For example you may have memory card in card reader that you insert into your pc and it shows a message saying you need to format the disk in drive D: (or any letter you drive is labelled with) before you can use it, but whenever you try to format the drive at the end of the whole stress you will get a message saying windows was unable to complete the format. When open your file explorer (Computer or This PC) you will detect that the drive storage capacity will not show. In which every time you wish to open the drive you will have the format disk message. Now I will show you how to solve that problem step by step without a step skipped.

Firstly you need to run your command prompt by typing RUN on your start menu search bar, or use the shortcut key combination Win + R (i.e. the windows key and letter R). Type cmd in the box and hit enter key your command prompt will open up.

When this is opened input diskpart and press the enter key on your computer keyboard.

Next input list disk and press the enter key on your keyboard. This will show the list of all available drives on your PC. Your drive will be labelled with e.g. Disk 0, Disk 1 etc. and the size of each will be shown depending on how many storage devices are connected to your PC. Note the label of the particular drive you want to format.

Next input select disk 1 and hit enter (disk 1 is just an example, you should know the particular drive you want to format, yours may be disk 0 or 2). The CMD will show “Disk 1 is now the selected disk”.

Next input clean and then hit the enter key on the keyboard. The command will tell you “Diskpart succeeded in cleaning the disk.”

Next input create partition primary and press the enter key on your keyboard. The command will tell you “DiskPart succeeded in creating the specified partition."

Next input active and press the enter key on the keyboard. And it will show “DiskPart marked the current partition as active.”

Next input select partition 1 and press the enter key. This will say “Partition 1 is now the selected partition.”

Now we are going the format the drive. Input format fs=fat32 and press the enter key on the keyboard (fs means file system). This will show the progress of the formatting according to the percentage. You have to wait for few minutes for the format to complete.

When the format is complete the progression will be 100 percent completed. And you will see a message saying “DiskPart successfully formatted the volume.” Now we are done with the command prompt. Input exit and press enter to leave DiskPart and close the command prompt.

If auto play is allowed on your computer system you will see the auto play showing what to do with the drive. Open your file explorer or Computer, you will detect that your drive storage capacity will be shown this time. Open your drive and you will not have any error message about formatting drive anymore. You can copy file into your drive for use.
